Alarmed at the continued build up of North Korean forces along the DMZ, South Korea revealed that war plans made with the US would, in the event of war, bring American military strength in Korea to 690,000 troops, 160 warships and 1,600 aircraft. These are the latest plans, based on current US military strength. North Korea has recently reorganized its army deployment, bringing 55 percent of its army divisions to the DMZ, moving in 500 more short range missiles and putting 40 percent of its jet fighters in bases near the DMZ. The North have given no reason for these moves.
