For the first time in ten years, North Korea's economy has registered a year to year gain, growing three percent in 1999. The growth has more to do with a 40 percent increase in agricultural output than anything else. For the last five years, bad weather have cut agricultural production year after year. In 1999, South Korea's economy grew ten percent.
