Anti-French (and foreigner in general) violence in southern Ivory Coast has led to a widespread call for French troops to leave. The popular belief is that the French are holding the Ivory Coast army back fro sweeping north to put down the rebellion. The army does not appear any more capable to defeating the rebels now than they were a year ago.
