Syria and Egypt show no sign of cracking down on terrorist support activities on their territory. The Iranian supported Shia terrorist organization Hizbollah, is still using facilities in Lebanon and Syria to train Palestinian terrorists. Egypt does not allow that sort of thing, but has not done more to stop Palestinian terrorists from smuggling weapons into Gaza from Egypt. Israel and the United States continue to pressure Egypt and Syria to crack down on terrorist support.

In eastern Lebanon, another 2,000 Syrian troops crossed the border into Syria. This leaves about 8,000 Syrian troops in Lebanon, and all of these are supposed to be gone by May. The pro-Syrian Lebanese prime minister, bowing to public pressure, has resigned again.  Most Lebanese want all the Syrians out by April, when parliamentary elections begin.
