Hamas has threatened all out war with Israel and the new head of  Israel's military intelligence agency says that the violence is going to get a lot worse. Israel is hurting Hamas, as Israeli troops increasingly go into Palestinian controlled territory and destroy Hamas facilities (including bomb making operations) and arresting and killing Hamas members.  Hamas is making more attacks, killing more Israelis. Militant Israelis are increasingly favoring a complete separation of Palestinians from Israelis. This will be difficult to do as long as Israel protects Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory. But more Israelis are admitting that most of the violence is being done over the preservation of the settlements
