A Hamas member blew himself up as he planted a remote control bomb alongside a road. Hamas admitted that this was the case. An opinion poll of Palestinians found that a quarter of them thought the September 11 attacks were consistent with Islamic law, while 64 percent disagreed. At the same time, 89 percent opposed the attacks on Afghanistan.
