Palestinian mortars shelled an Israeli town near Gaza. Israeli tanks and helicopter gunships attacked Palestinian security force buildings in Gaza. Israel said it will not tolerate further mortar attacks. Meanwhile, Israeli aircraft bombed a Syrian radar station in northern Lebanon. Three Syrian soldiers were killed and several wounded. This is the first time in five years that Israel has hit a Syrian target in Lebanon. Israel considers Syria, which has 35,000 troops in Lebanon, responsible for Hizbollah attacks on Israel. Although the Hizbollah gets most of it's support from Iran, Hizbollah could not launch its attacks without Syrian troops looking the other way. Israel warplanes also buzzed other areas in Lebanon, breaking the sound barrier to drive home the point that Israeli aircraft could operate freely over Lebanon. Israel said that it would hold Lebanon and Syria strictly accountable for Hizbollah attacks against Israel.
