The pro-Syrian Amal militia made eight attacks on Israeli positions, causing no injuries. But Israel promptly responded with artillery and air attacks, injuring four Lebanese civilians and one Amal militiaman.

August 26; Two Israeli aircraft attacked Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, firing two missiles. Attacks on Hezbollah targets have been almost daily occurrences for some time now. Hezbollah also announced the loss, or "martyrdom" of one of it's fighters on August 22nd. So far this year, Hezbollah has lost 18 fighters. Other anti-Israel groups have lost four dead in the south Lebanon fighting. Israel had had twelve of its troops, including a general, killed in the same period.
