Opinion surveys indicate that the vast majority of Iraqis are pleased with progress since the Saddam government was thrown out. But the responses varied depending on who you asked. The Sunni Arabs (20 percent of the population) who were Saddam's most enthusiastic supporters, tend to be hostile to the coalition forces. Shia Arabs (60 percent of the population) are mostly in favor of the peacekeeping efforts. The Kurds (Sunnis who are not Arabs) are very much in favor of the coalition.
