Despite sabotage attacks, the rail line between Iraq and Syria is operating again, moving freight and passengers.

Iraqi police are now manning most of the roadblocks in southern Iraq. The police are primarily looking to catch thieves and looters trying to transport their stolen goods, as well as drugs and weapon. Illegal items are being seized and arrests made. Some of the crime in the south is organized on a tribal basis, with the tribal leaders dividing up the loot and assigning targets.

The coalition is offering $10,000 rewards for information that leads to the arrest of anyone carrying out or planning sabotage missions (against oil, electricity or other infrastructure targets.)
