The government has openly warned the Islamic militias, that belong to the armed forces, but often serve as vigilantes to enforce conservative attitudes towards public behavior, to stay out of the upcoming elections. The Sepah (the Islamic Revolution's Guards Corps) was specifically advised to stay out of the electoral process.
