 An Iranian diplomat, held in Iraq by Sunni Arab terrorists for 55 days, has been released. The Iraqi kidnappers had demanded that Iran release Iraqi prisoners still held still held from the 1980s Iran-Iraq war. The problem was, there were no Iraqi prisoners of war still held in Iran. After long negotiations, the last of these prisoners were released before the 2003 war, and the kidnappers were finally convinced that this was so. But it had become a popular belief in Iraq, and Iran, that both sides continued to hold prisoners of war. The group that grabbed the Iranian diplomat were seized by a Sunni Arab nationalist group that was angry at suspected Iranian manipulation of the Shia Arab majority in Iraq. Despite the millions of Shia Arabs in the Middle East, many mainline Sunni Arabs hate Shias, partly for religious reasons, and partly because the largest concentration of Shias in the world are Iranians (who are not Arab, and have long tormented the
