Upset at being called part of the "Axis of Terror" by US president Bush, the government is throwing a tantrum. The new British ambassador is not being allowed into the country and long known Iranian support for terrorists denied. But the reformist led government has offered to cooperate with the European Union in fighting terrorism. The Islamic conservatives who retain minority support among the population and veto power over government actions, continue to support terrorists in Lebanon and Israel, as well as running terrorist training camps in Iran. The conservatives are said to be providing aid to al Qaeda members fleeing Afghanistan.

Iran's war on drugs continues. Since March of 2001 (when the Iranian year begins), 246 drug smuggling gangs have been destroyed, 47,000 people arrested for drug dealing and another 17.734 for using drugs.
