Rebels fired five mortar shells at the western city of Kermanshah. The target was a local Revolutionary Guards headquarters. The rebels also reported hitting an army brigade headquarters, also on the Iraqi border. In the southern city of Shiraz, drug smugglers obtained guns and attempted a prison breakout. It failed, and six prisoners died and 25 were wounded.
