Over the last few days, police arrested 24 Islamic radicals suspected of participating in the October 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people. So far, 35 people have been convicted of involvement in the Bali attack. About have the 24 were preparing to leave the country, to hide in terrorist bases in the Philippines. These latest arrests involved people thought to be responsible for other terror attacks as well.
In two years of Aceh violence, 3,300 rebels have been killed, as well as 200 soldiers. The rebels are not giving up, and the government is not backing down.
