The army says it has continued attacks on local rebels since the tidal waves hit last month, and has killed 200 rebel fighters. There have also been reports of shots fired at convoys carrying relief supplies. These could be incidents where rebels thought the convoys were carrying troops. There is supposed to be a truce between the army and the rebels, but not all rebel and army units have gotten the word, or some have decided to continue fighting anyway. One source of friction is the control bands of rebels exercised over some areas. Local government officials were often intimidated to go along with this, and nothing much happens unless troops or police show up to check.
