 In Central Sulawesi, gunfire was heard in the last two nights, but there were no injuries. The situation is tense as Moslems and Christians prepare for more clashes. 

The commander of military forces in Aceh, Major General Bambang Darmono, was replaced, apparently because after six months he had not been able to eliminate the separatist forces. Darmono was also criticized for a public demonstration of special forces operations that led to the death of eight troops and great embarrassment for the armed forces.
