 The persistent attacks by local terrorist groups has forced the government to crack down on Islamic radicals. The government had resisted this approach for years, fearing greater violence if they arrested and prosecuted Islamic radicals. But it's a slow motion crackdown compared to what happened in the 1960s against the communist threat. That effort led to over three decades of military dictatorship. So the war with Islamic radicalism will be low level, and persistent. This is paying off, as tips from citizens has led to weekly arrests of Islamic radicals and seizing of weapons and bomb making equipment. But the radicals have had several years, since the fall of the military government, to import weapons and explosives. There's a lot of it still out there.
