A company of commandos was sent to Wamena, in Papua, to try and hunt down and recover the 29 weapons stolen in an earlier raid by separatist rebels. Local employees of the electric company were suspected to aiding the rebels, as power went out just before the attack. But the electrical company suspects were questioned and released. The local separatists have always been poorly armed, and too poor to buy weapons. So the 29 stolen firearms makes the rebels a lot more lethal.
