Prosecutors have dropped corruption charges against president Wahid. But the parliament still wants him out of office. The chief grievance is misrule. The president has not done anything to stop the separatist movements in the nation. In West Timor, violence in refugee camps on the East Timor border left three dead. Some 100,000 East Timorese refugees remain in the camps. In East Java, police used gunfire to force back pro-Wahid demonstrators. In Aceh, rebel violence left three rebels and five civilians dead.
