The Bush Administration has asked Australia to take the lead in dealing with Indonesia and handling regional affairs south of that country to allow the US to use its forces in more critical areas. Australia has upgraded its Army Aviation Corps to a combat branch. This reflects plans to buy armed recon helicopters, tactical unmanned recon drones, and dedicated troop-carrying helicopters to support amphibious operations.--Stephen V Cole
