Indonesia continues to accuse Australia of sending F-111C fighters equipped with DB-110 photo recon pods to spy on its military forces. The Australians admit doing so in the vicinity of Timor during the first phases of the UN peacekeeping mission (while there was concern that the Indonesian military might crush the first handfuls of Australian troops that arrived) and later used the fighters to locate refugees hiding in the mountains, but says it has not sent flights over other parts of Indonesia. The DB-110 recon pod can take good tactical photographs at 64 miles in daylight and at 32 miles using infrared during darkness.--Stephen V Cole
