Islamic militants using a training camp outside the capital to train fighters for the religious battles in the Malukus have surrendered their weapons and closed down their camp. Government pressure brought this about. In the capital, police fired into the air to disperse hundreds of students demonstrating in favor of promptly prosecuting former president Suharto for corruption.
