 The Pakistani army says that ten months of operations in the South Waziristan area of the Afghan border have killed over 300 foreign Islamic terrorists, and resulted in the arrest of nearly as many. The army considers the Islamic radicals, and al Qaeda, gone from  South Waziristan. This area was long considered the most hospitable to al Qaeda and the Taliban.
