  In Kashmir, rebel violence left five dead. Indian and Pakistani artillery exchanged fire along the Line of Control in Kashmir, leaving five Indian civilians dead. 

In northeast India, tribal rebels killed two bodyguards of the Chief Minister of the state of Manipur. The area is next to Myanmar (Burma), which currently tolerates camps belonging to 19 Indian rebel groups.
