A coalition of 20 Kashmiri separatist organizations have broken away from the rebel movement in order to try and negotiate an autonomy deal with India. Increasingly, Moslems in Kashmir are tired of the constant violence and lack of rebel success. The fighting has been going on for 13 years and has killed some 36,000 people. Meanwhile, rebel violence in Kashmir left two dead.
In south India, a communist rebel group, the PWG (People's War Group), attacked a railroad station and destroyed it.
