In Kashmir,  in several incidents, one rebel, a civilian and two policemen were killed. 

In northwest Pakistan, troops surrounded tribal strongholds to try and force the tribesmen to surrender four foreigners suspected as belonging to al Qaeda. The tribe says the four are just Islamic preachers, but will not allow the government to see the four men.
