Tribal rebels ambushed an army truck and killed 21 soldiers, taking 19 rifles and much ammunition and fleeing. The rebels were suspected to be from the National Liberation Front of Tripura.

 In Kashmir, rebel violence left ten rebels dead in several incidents (some of which involved rebels trying to cross over from Pakistani Kashmir).
