A bomb went off in a Pakistani madrassa (Islamic school), killing the man who was apparently assembling the bomb.  The dead man was identified as someone who had been known to work with an Islamic militant group. Madrassas are under government order to reform (teach practical subjects in addition to religion and hatred for non-Moslems.) The madarassas have been resisting the reforms.

With help from the FBI, Pakistani bank investigators have been able to trace money belonging to terrorist and Islamic militant organizations and the ISI (Pakistani military intelligence). Also found was evidence that ISI sent Mohammed Atta, the ringleader of the September 11 attacks, a million dollars. The ISI has long been full of Islamic militant officers and was always an enthusiastic backer of the Taliban and al Qaeda. The Pakistani government has replaced the senior leadership of ISI since last September, but many of the pro-al Qaeda midlevel leadership is still there. 

More people in Pakistan are becoming disgusted with both corrupt officials and Islamic militants, seeing both groups as reversing the economic gains of the 70s and 80s that have stalled and reversed in the 1990s.
