Violence in Kashmir left three rebels, a civilian and three soldiers dead. In the Pakistani capital, a small bomb went off in a vehicle parked near the British High Commission. There were no injuries. The Pakistani government has so far arrested some 2,000 known or suspected Islamic militants and shut down over a hundred headquarters and offices of these organizations. Indian police have arrested suspects in the Calcutta attack, including three Bangladeshis and three local Moslem clerics. India blamed Islamic radicals for the attack, but Moslem gangster Farhan Malik called from his base in Dubai to take credit for the attack.
