In Kashmir, rebel violence left 17 rebels, two policemen and two civilians dead. Most of the rebel dead were during another rebel attempt to move people across the Line of Control from Pakistani Kashmir into Indian Kashmir. There would be a lot less violence inside Kashmir were it not for this constant movement of rebels from camps in Pakistan and Pakistani Kashmir. This Pakistani support for the rebels (which Pakistan denies, despite the constant action along the Line of Control) is the major cause of bad relations between the two nations.
