India has tested the new PJ-10 supersonic cruise missile, which it is jointly developing with Russia. The missile has a range of 280km (keeping it under Treaty limits). It has a Russian engine with an Indian guidance package. The engine is air-breathing and uses kerosene for fuel, but the missile can be boosted to supersonic speeds by a solid rocket also on board. Russia and India plan to buy the missile for their own use and export it. Production could start in about two years.--Stephen V Cole
