The Indian ceasefire in Kashmir seems to have backfired. In the 78 days of the current ceasefire, rebel activity has killed 242 rebels, soldiers (54) and civilians. In the previous 78 days, only 154 people died (including 94 soldiers). Many of the rebel groups do not want peace, they just want the Indians out of Kashmir. Meanwhile, 40 kilometers (eventually 200) of the Bangladesh border will be fenced to deter tribal separatists from crossing into India.
