Congo continues to be the deadliest war zone on the planet, with over 30,000 people dying each month from the combined effects of combat, starvation and disease. Civilian populations are constantly fleeing the fighting, which often leads to starvation and disease as people try to survive in the bush. Several million people have died in a decade of civil war and rebellion in Congo.
