In the northwest, troops found rifles, belonging to the Nicaraguan military, in a rebel camp they had raided. Nicaraguan officials said that the rifles had been stolen from the military, or lost during combat in the 1980s. In addition to many rifles, troops seized over 10,000 rounds of ammo, 700 grenades and 15 tons of food in the FARC camp. Rebels have been having a hard time keeping their gunmen armed, with so many rifles getting captured, either in overrun camps, or when the rifles owners were captured or killed. FARC has been active in Central America, where is distributes or moves drugs, and uses the drugs to buy weapons and other supplies.
