Police caught one of the leaders of the Norte del Valle drug cartel (which has sent $10 billion worth of cocaine to the U.S. in the last fifteen years.) Over a hundred drug gang leaders have been captured, and many extradited to the United States, in the last few years. While the various rebel groups get most of the media attention, it's the drug cartels that provide the money to keep the rebels going.
