The flight of the middle class from Colombia is slowing down. In the late 1990s, over 100,000 Colombians a year were leaving the country, often for the United States. But last year, the number was down to 24,000, and thousands of professionals were returning from exile. The declining number of kidnappings, lower crime rate and a growing economy has made the cities more livable. Colombians in exile have noticed this, and are responding.
