About a hundred FARC rebels surrounded a luxury resort in the northwest. They selected about a dozen guests who appeared capable of paying a high ransom and took them to the nearby mountains. The rebels killed a resort employee who refused to drive a truck for them. Raids like this simply cause more professionals like doctors, managers, engineers and the like to flee the country.
