A World War II bomb went off in a construction site in northeast China, killing one and wounding three. Another bomb at the same site was defused. There are several million bombs and shells left over from World War II, and more are being found now as growing prosperity leads to more home and commercial construction. There are also some 700,000 Japanese chemical shells still unaccounted for in China. Japan was the only participant in World War II to use chemical weapons, but they were only used against the Chinese (who were unable to respond in kind.)
