Niger Republic, Cameroon, and Chad are coordinating police patrols on their joint borders to help stop the movement of criminal and terrorist gangs. People along the borders are most interested in attacking the bandits that operate along the border areas, often slipping across to escape pursuit by soldier or police. The new coordination agreement will help make it possible to catch such pursued bandits when they cross a border, and arrest them, or chase them back. The terrorism angle is bringing in aid and training teams from the United States.
