Government troops cornered and fought with a large group of armed Islamic radicals who had entered the country from Niger. After two days of fighting, 43 Islamic radicals were killed (including nine Algerians, plus others from Niger, Nigeria and Mali.) Five of the Islamic radicals were captured, including one Chadian.
