Chad moved troops around on the Central African Republic (CAR) border, fearful that someone in CAR might try and damage the oil fields in southern Chad. The oil will eventually bring the government $100 million a year, which represents the majority of the export income. CAR officials claim that much of the Chad oil being pumped actually lies in deposits under CAR territory. The current civil war civil war in CAR is thought to be partly over economic issues, like which tribe controls the money from oil fields. The same situation is present in Chad, with the northerners upset that they are not getting their fair share of the oil from the southern fields.
