The government and the largest rebel group, MDJT, have signed a deal that provides for an immediate ceasefire, release of prisoners, rebel participation in the government and merger of some rebels into the armed forces. The deal was no doubt moved along by Libya, which provides bases and other support for MDJT. Libya has been cleaning up its act since the Cold War ended, getting out of the terrorism and support for sundry local rebellions business. The tribal based MDJT rebellion has been sputtering along at a low level since 1998.
