  The MDJT claimed that a clash with the army in the northwest, near the Niger border, left 47 soldiers and 15 rebels dead.  Although Libya has said it is not supporting the rebels, there are several Moslem nations that are willing to do so. The civil wars in Chad have increasingly been more religious than ethnic in character. The northerners are largely Moslem, the southerners largely Christian.
