The former US UN ambassador, Richard Holbrooke, tossed in his two cents on the hot subjects of separating Montenegro and Kosovo from Serbia. Holbrooke, in a Kosovar publication, said he thinks the correct outcome is an independent Kosovo. He thinks an international conference should be the forum for the Kosovo-Serbia separation. He also said that Montenegro should go ahead and split from Serbia. He pointed out that Serbia and Montenegro do not currently use the same currency. Holbrooke worked for President Bill Clinton, and no doubt his views are his own. Still, they do reflect a view shared by many in the US foreign policy establishment. Serbia will read it that way.
