Macedonia has announced new changes to its military designed to win approval for NATO membership. The military will be cut to about 15,000 active troops and 60,000 reservists, considerably less than the original plan. The Army will be reorganized from corps into rapid reaction brigades of about 2,750 troops. The first of these will be formed at Stip next year.--Stephen V Cole
