Islamic radicals continue to operate, but in increasingly reduced numbers. Hundreds of the Islamic rebels have fled the country in the past few years, and their money, and other support, are key to keeping the Islamic terrorism going inside Algeria. However, police and army efforts, plus lack of support by the population, have reduced the number of Islamic radicals to a few hundred men operating in a dozen or so scattered groups.
