Police in eastern Algeria arrested fifteen people for providing shelter and aid for Islamic radical rebels. Weapons and ammunition was also discovered in the houses of some of those arrested. The Islamic rebels used to have the support of the majority of Algerians, but the rebels use of terror and murder to keep civilian supporters in line eventually turned off all but a few percent of the population.
