U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell had a two-hour long lunch with Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Bill Graham on 14 November, during which he asked America's northern neighbor to step up to the plate and contribute troops if force is needed to disarm Iraq. What the hard-pressed Canadian Forces could actually provide in a fight with Iraq is a question to be answered on another day, but best posed to successive Liberal administrations that have slowly starved Canada's military into the thin force it is today.
