Ukraine has pledged to provide a mechanized battalion of 700 troops to the Polish 21st Mountain Brigade, which Poland has promised to contribute to the new European Union Rapid Reaction Force. The brigade also includes a peacekeeping battalion (now on duty in Kosovo) which has two Ukrainian companies and numerous Polish troops.--Stephen V Cole
